When did single use paper-based boxes become more ‘efficient’ than serving food on plates? Most of us don’t have much control over the containers or wrapping that hold and protect what we buy. If we get a choice at all, it’s often a choice between single-use plastic, and single-use paper. Half of paper consumed in the EU is for #packaging which is typically used once, then sent for recycling or – especially when it comes to food packaging – to the incinerator. From 2012 to 2020, the average EU citizen increased their paper packaging waste by 10kg each year, and that figure is rising. Was hat LIDL mit der wahrscheinlich größten Lobbyschlacht der letzten Jahre zu tun? Ihr habt es sicher schon gesehen. LIDLs “Kreislaufflasche” schmückt seit ein paar Monaten die Werbeflächen Deutschlands mit dem Gesicht von Günther Jauch. Dahinter steckt steckt eine Lobbyschlacht in Brüssel bei der es sich um die Verpackungsverordnung handelt. Aber warum braucht es dafür neue Regeln? In der EU ist die totale Masse des Verpackungsmülls in der EU zwischen 2009 und 2020 um 20% gewachsen. Verpackungsmüll macht mittlerweile fast die Hälfte des weltweit erzeugten Plastikmülls aus. Diese Zahlen werden weiter steigen, wenn wir diesen Trend jetzt nicht stoppen. Vor allem die Konservativen werben für mehr Recycling. Doch nur rund 16 Prozent unserer Plastikabfälle werden innerhalb Deutschlands recycelt. Mehrweg ist die Lösung für viele unserer Verpackungsprobleme. In der neuen EU-Verpackungsverordnung, an der ich mitarbeite, fördern wir Mehrweg. Denn Mehrweg funktioniert als System, ist innovativ und entwickelt sich ständig weiter. Vielen Großkonzernen gefällt es nicht. Unter anderem LIDL. Sie wollen weiterhin ihr eigenes Ding durchziehen – und dabei unseren Planeten vermüllen. Die meisten dieser Pilotprojekte sind Scheinlösungen. Die deutsche Mehrweg-Landschaft ist in Bewegung: Startups tüfteln an neuen Geschäftsmodellen, es bilden sich Allianzen und Menschen tauschen sich in den sozialen Netzwerken aus. Denn Mehrweg hilft nicht nur der Umwelt: Es fördert auch regionale Wirtschaftskreisläufe und schafft grüne Jobs. Langfristig möchte ich Anreize setzen, damit Mehrweg günstiger wird als Einweg. Grazie a @emmem_ph per questa testimonianza dalla Finlandia uno dei 13 paesi Europei dove è attivo un Sistema di Deposito Cauzionale (#DRS Deposit Return System) per bottiglie e lattine contenenti bevande. Ci sono altri 10 paesi UE che introdurranno un DRS entro il 2025, ma tra questi non c'è (per ora) l'Italia. Questo perché l'attuale Governo, Confindustria e i Consorzi del Conai (per nominare solamente alcuni dei soggetti), si oppongono dicendo che in Italia, "eccellenza del riciclo" non ne abbiamo bisogno. E' stato mandato dalle commissioni parlamentari ambiente e attività produttive alla Commissione Europea un parere negativo alla proposta di regolamento imballaggi e rifiuti da imballaggio #PPWR. Tale proposta prevede all'art.44 l'implementazione di un DRS per tutti i paesi che nel 2026/2027 non raggiungeranno il 90% di intercettazione di bottiglie in plastica e lattine. Siccome non esiste paese al mondo che è stato in grado di raggiungere tale obiettivo senza un #DRS il nostro paese rischia di perdere tempo per favorire quei settori industriali che sul monouso e rifiuti da imballaggio che finiscono in discarica o negli inceneritori traggono vantaggi economici. ♻ ♻ Ci sono moltissimi italiani che vivono in paesi dove è in vigore un sistema di deposito cauzionale che testimoniano sulla sua facilità di utilizzo e efficacia nel massimizzare il riciclo di qualità "bottle to bottle" e "can to can" e ridurre drasticamente il littering. 💰 Come il nostro studio "Sistema di Deposito Cauzionale: quali vantaggi per il riciclo" ha rilevato, paghiamo circa 800 milioni di euro annui con la fiscalità dello stato per gli imballaggi in plastica che non ricicliamo, di cui circa 135-150M imputabili alle sole bottiglie in PET. L'Italia è tra i 19 paesi che rischiano di non raggiungere l'obiettivo di riciclo del 50% al 2025. Quando é que as caixas de papel descartáveis se tornaram mais “eficientes” do que servir comida em pratos? 🤔 A maioria de nós não tem muito controlo sobre os recipientes ou embalagens que guardam e protegem o que compramos. Se tivermos escolha, muitas vezes será uma escolha entre plástico descartável e papel descartável. E se te dissermos que 3 mil milhões de árvores 🌲 são cortadas anualmente para fazer embalagens de papel? Metade do papel consumido na UE destina-se a embalagens que normalmente são utilizadas uma vez e depois enviadas para reciclagem ou – especialmente quando se trata de embalagens de alimentos – para incinerar. De 2012 a 2020, o cidadão médio da UE aumentou os seus resíduos de embalagens de papel em 10 kg por ano, e esse número está a aumentar.
