Procreate artists… since we don’t have the stroke function on our app😔 Are you tired of tracing the edges of your own artwork just to create a lineart? Or to create an outline for an object?
Good news: you don’t have to do that anymore! 😻👍
Here’s how you can easily create your outline:
1. Copy the layer that you want to add a border around
2. Go to adjustments and select Gaussian Blur
3. Apply the blur. I usually set it to 2%, but if you want thicker outlines, increase the blur!
4. Place the blurred layer beneath the original layer
5. Use selection tool. Use auto-select and tap on outside of the object. Slide left and right to adjust the thickness of the line. Be careful not to set the selection threshold too high, or you’ll miss the blurry parts
6. Invert the selection. Choose the color for your outline, then fill the selection using the fill tool
TIP: Want a bolder line? Simply duplicate the layer a few times, then merge them💪
And BOOM – your outline is done! YAYYAAYYAY💖
EXTRA TIPS: Want to change the line color? Here’s how:
1. Select the line layer and enable Alpha Lock
2. Now, you can paint directly over the lines without worrying about going outside them!
