CAand i’m planning to go back in the summer
i volunteered to leave my home and go serve the Lord for 18 months. no one forced me, it was my choice. i never had the desire to go but had re-occurring dreams about going back to Africa.
the same year i got my call i had been struggling a lot mentally. when i opened my call i was shocked to see i’d be going back to Africa but deep down i’ve always known i was going back at some point and have always wanted to. a few months before leaving the devil really got to me. i lost a close friend in a tragic car accident and i felt so alone. i was in a dark place and begged God to take my life. He clearly didn’t and i knew i needed to go on my mission because the answers to my questions were somehow waiting for me there.
and they were but not in the way i expected. i met at least one person with similar experiences and even worse ones than i had been through. i was humbled. i saw my brother and i abandoned on the streets but with different faces and different ages. hugging those children was like hugging my younger self and telling them it will be ok and God is watching over them. i went there to convert and that’s what i did. i converted myself to the gospel of Jesus Christ. i got the answers and the comfort i desperately needed and felt at home.
the mission was hard in different ways but i never
regret going. i’m so thankful for my trials especially because of who i’ve become and the people i’ve met along the way. God is good. He is watching. He listens and hears our prayers.
