In the meantime, here are some ways to help you bond with your baby, besides all of the routine care:
🌱 Skin-to-skin cuddles or holding them in a baby carrier
🌱 Getting down on the floor with them for tummy time
🌱 Singing, humming, or drumming some rhythms
🌱 Showing them interesting patterns and shapes
🌱 Narrating your day to them, even if they can’t understand anything

TICan I simultaneously miss breastfeeding and be thrilled that I’m no longer the milk source? 😂 Because as much as I miss that connection (I truly did love nursing and EBF until he was 16 months)… buying grass-fed whole milk is way easier! 🐮👌🏼
This toddler stage is wild, but I’m loving every second. For every hard moment—like the meltdowns or throwing things he definitely shouldn’t—there are a dozen moments that make my heart burst: hearing a new word for the first time, those sweet unprompted hugs and kisses, and the way he asks for "mama" when he wants me close.
Motherhood is messy and magical all at once, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🫶🏼

AMHere we keep things simple… 👇🏻
• most of her clothes are thrifted
• every month we do a charity shop haul of books for her
• her nursery furniture are mostly fb marketplace finds
• our car is an old banger but fits her and the dog in perfectly
• and we spend most of our time outside at the beach, hiking, camping or surfing - which is pretty much freeeeee!
Yes there are expenses but not everything has to be brand new and there is so much for her to learn and discover from being a bare foot feral beach baby! Hands up if you agree! 😁

In fact, the other day I heard someone complaining about how early it was starting a shift at 9 am…how difficult it was waking up and getting the ball rolling by that hour. All I could think of was the two mini meals I’ve often made by then, the laundry that’s started, the crafts I’ve done, the places I’ve been etc 🤭

DEOver two years ago, a teacher told my son, “Only girls wear nail polish.” He became self-conscious and stopped wearing it.
As a mom, I want my kids to grow up free. Free to express themselves, to explore, to be exactly who they are without shame.
What my kids need more than outdated gender rules or societal expectations is the freedom to live fully and authentically.
Let’s raise kids who know there’s more than one way to be themselves.
This video is from January, when he finally felt comfortable again. He wore nail polish on the same two fingers I usually wear it and during his cello performance, we shared a quiet connection. It felt so good to see him feeling like himself again.

HERaising kids is not for the weak 😅
There was a time I did everything in our house because it was “just easier.”
But then I looked at my daughter and realized…
She didn’t appreciate any of it.
And that was on me.
I hadn’t taught her to care for what we worked so hard for
I hadn’t modeled responsibility- I’d absorbed it.
So we made 3 stupid simple shifts.
And within weeks, friends were complimenting how thoughtful and grounded my kids were.
Here’s what we changed:
1. Before you come out of your room - it’s tidy.
Beds are made. Trash is out and Floor clear.
If you don’t bring your clothes to the laundry room, the don’t get washed.
🧺 We honor our environment.
2. Meals around the table are sacred.
We pause and we talk. No zoning out. This is our time to check in!
And everybody helps clean up.
🍽 Kids can rinse their own plates.
3. We speak life.
I set the tone with music before they wake up.
We try to use positive words and language. This takes a lot of practice but it works!
When they say, “I can’t,” we shift it to:
➡️ “I’m struggling and I need help.”
These things aren’t hard.
They just take consistency.
When my kids are invited to eat at their friends house and I get a text about my 9 year old that says “ M thanked me for dinner and offered to help clean up🤯” it makes you realize you’re on the right track. 🤍

ALThe video my 11-year-old sent me that almost gave me a heart attack 😅
PSA before anyone panics: she was NOT home alone. Her older brother was there the whole time.
