This is a big aerospace breakthrough. An engine has been demonstrated to transition/transform from turbojet to ramjet. Turbojets are great from low speeds at takeoff to about Mach 3. Beyond this ramjets are required to go faster to above Mach 3. A single engine called Chimera has been shown to transform while under supersonic conditions between both engine types. This may one day enable aircraft to fly at hypersonic speeds above Mach 5. ✅Follow: @epic.spaceflight for more 📸Credit: @hermeuscorp . . . #space #spaceflight #texas #spacex #starship #superheavy #booster #epicspaceflight #spacenews #starbase #bocachica #orbit #astronomy #astro #2022 #future #science #tech #technology #engineering #elon #elonmusk #nasa #aerospace

The ramjet engine is mechanically one of the simplest jet propulsion systems, containing no complex rotating parts like turbines or compressors. Instead, it relies entirely on the forward speed of the aircraft (the "ram" effect) to compress the incoming air. At high supersonic speeds (ideally Mach 3 and above), the air entering the intake is violently slowed down, creating a series of shockwaves that naturally and powerfully compress the air. This highly compressed air is then mixed with fuel and ignited, and the resulting hot exhaust is shot out the back to generate thrust. Because it lacks a compressor, a ramjet cannot start from a standstill and must be boosted to high speed by a separate engine or rocket. #JetOps101 #Ramjet #RamjetEngine #Hypersonic #SupersonicFlight #AerospaceEngineering #AviationTechnology #AviationFacts #Propulsion #NoMovingParts #AvGeek #Mach3 #RamPressure #Shockwave #FlyingStovepipe #TechnicalAviation #EngineDesign #RocketBoost #HighSpeedFlight #AviationDaily #EngineScience #RamjetPropulsion #MilitaryTech #Innovation #PilotLife

This video shows a homemade jet-style engine being tested on a small boat, using a gas cylinder as a fuel source. The setup resembles a pulsejet or ramjet concept, where combustion creates thrust by expelling hot gases out the rear. While the physics behind jet propulsion are real, this type of DIY build is extremely dangerous. Improvised fuel systems, lack of pressure control, and no proper heat shielding can easily lead to explosions or fires. These engines also produce intense heat and vibration that small hulls are not designed to handle. Experiments like this highlight how propulsion works, but they are not safe outside controlled, professional environments. When you watch an aircraft take off, it looks smooth and silent from the outside. Inside the engine, it’s controlled chaos. This video shows how turbojet and turbofan engines actually work, from the moment air enters to the moment the aircraft moves forward. A turbojet is the simplest idea. Air goes in, gets compressed, mixed with fuel, burned, and then shot out at very high speed. That fast exhaust is what pushes the aircraft forward. It’s loud, aggressive, and built for speed, which is why early fighter jets used turbojets. A turbofan takes the same core idea but improves it. Instead of throwing all the air straight out, a big fan at the front pushes most of the air around the engine. That slower, heavier airflow creates more efficient thrust. The result is less noise, better fuel efficiency, and longer range perfect for modern aircraft. That’s why today’s passenger planes look quiet and smooth, even though the power inside them is massive. Engineering didn’t change the goal. It just learned a smarter way to reach it. 📚 This video is shared for educational purposes only. A modern turbofan jet engine doesn’t just “burn fuel.” It uses a perfectly synchronized system of air intake, multi-stage compressors, combustion chambers, turbines, and exhaust nozzles — all spinning at over 100,000 RPM — to generate massive thrust with extreme efficiency. Here’s what makes it legendary: 🔹 Compressor stages squeeze incoming air to high pressure 🔹 Fuel injection + combustion create controlled high-energy expansion 🔹 Turbine blades extract energy to power the system 🔹 High-velocity exhaust produces thrust based on Newton’s Third Law This is not just aviation. This is aerospace engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and advanced materials science working in perfect harmony. Modern jet engines are built using heat-resistant superalloys, precision CNC manufacturing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and AI-assisted performance modeling — allowing aircraft to fly farther, faster, and more efficiently than ever before. India has developed a low-cost yet powerful rocket system often called the “Baby BrahMos.” Built for around ₹2.3 crore per unit, this system is said to be nearly ten times cheaper than a similar American system that costs close to ₹20 crore. Reports suggest that France is in talks with India to buy this system, especially at a time when it is preparing a major fighter jet deal. The system being discussed is the air-launched version of the Pinaka Rocket System, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation. Originally designed for the Indian Army, it has now been modified so it can be launched from fighter jets. Its size has been reduced to fit aircraft easily, and improvements in propulsion make it faster and more effective. The rocket can glide at high speed and even change its path mid-air to hit its target accurately. Many compare it with the BrahMos missile, one of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missiles. While BrahMos is used for large, high-value targets like warships and command centers, Pinaka is built for precise strikes on smaller targets such as enemy vehicles, airfields, or troop positions. BrahMos travels at around Mach 3 speed using a ramjet engine, whereas Pinaka uses solid fuel and follows a guided trajectory to strike quickly. The major difference is cost and purpose. A single BrahMos missile can cost between ₹35–40 crore, while Pinaka costs just ₹2.3 crore per unit. France is reportedly considering Pinaka as a replacement for its older rocket systems that will retire in the coming years. With its lower price and strong performance, the Indian-made system is becoming an attractive option in global defense markets.
