Reflexing roses 💫 It’s amazing how different a rose can look, before and after it’s been reflexed (or *floofed* as I prefer to call it) Often I’ll have people say “I really don’t like roses” and then they see a reflexed rose and totally change their minds… it really changes the whole vibe! Here are the steps : 🤍 remove all outer petals, or “guard” petals, and all unwanted foliage from the stem - sometimes it’s nice to have those natural bits of green. Depends on the lewk you’re goin for. 🤍 flip the rose upside down and place the stem between your palms. (After dethroning of course) Use a spinning motion back and forth to open the petals of the rose 🤍 blowing on the centre of the rose and gently pulling back the petals from the centre with your fingers helps to open things up too, but be careful not to pry too much, it can easily bruise the rose or cause the inner petals to snap. Be tender with your fleurs ✨ 🤍 flip the outer petals out by pressing the petal with your index and middle finger on the top of the petal and your thumb on the bottom, to sort of *pop* the petal inside out. 🤍 for extra floofiness and a more layered look, I fold the edges of the petals I’ve popped out underneath themselves, by sorta curling the edges of the petal inward. Voila! The fluffy bbs! 💝 Extra lil tips - you can do this with standard roses, but some varieties open a lot easier than others. 💝 Regardless of the kind of rose, it helps to have them sit out in room temp to open for a day or two before reflexing them. It helps give the flower a moment to naturally open and unfurl, and makes for a gentler process without forcing a tight bloom to open before its time. Hmm… there’s a metaphor in there for sure… Happy rose-ing! 💫✨🤍

How to reflex roses — I know reflexed roses aren’t for everyone (my fiancé specifically lol), but I still think it’s a cool skill to be able to do. Reflexed roses are pretty unique and can elevate the overall look/design. Definitely much easier than one would think, but it’s also not “easy” as reflexing roses requires knowledge of which rose varieties are best to use, when is the best time to reflex, additional prep time and a lot of gentleness. I mean, imagine doing this 100-1000+ times? 😵‍💫😅 Some things to keep in mind: 🌹 not all roses can be reflexed 🌹 some roses reflex better than others 🌹 soft/older roses are best for reflexing 🌹 tear is always possible — even to the best of us 🌹 be gentle is the key Hope this helps! ☺️ . . . . . #chloerosedesign #reflexedroses #howtovideo #weddingflower #floristtips #tipsandtricks #floristy
