This is what happens to baby development without emotional safety. In the 1940s, psychoanalyst René Spitz studied babies raised in institutions, without one loving caregiver. where food and nappies were provided but connection wasn’t. He documented the effects of emotional neglect: 👉🏻 Loss of curiosity 👉🏻 Delays in baby development 👉🏻 Blank stares, still bodies 👉🏻 Emotional shutdown 🧠 This is why baby development depends on more than care - it needs connection. They were surviving. Why? Because without responsive parenting, a baby’s brain doesn’t feel safe enough to play. It shifts from exploring to protecting. Baby development starts with connection. And responsive parenting isn’t spoiling. It doesn't create “bad habits”. It’s what protects babies from shutdown before they even have words. #babydevelopment #responsiveparenting #babyemotions #babybraindevelopment #babyplay

💔 “I brought you into this world, and I want you to live it to the fullest.” This is a trend that stopped me in my tracks, love it! If you grew up hearing the toxic versions of these phrases, you’re not alone. Most of our parents were doing the best they could with what they knew. The old way (and sadly, still the mainstream way): 👉Discipline meant obedience 👉Emotions were seen as weakness 👉Respect was built on fear 👉Children were meant to be seen, not heard But this beautiful reimagining shows us what’s possible: ✨”Just wait until... we can play together.” ✨”As long as you live under my roof, you will be loved.” ✨”Children should be seen and cared for.” What breaks my heart is that we’re still living in this disconnected culture. Traditional discipline still prioritizes compliance over connection. Children’s emotions are still dismissed as inconvenient. It takes a conscious parent to choose differently - to pause when we hear our parents’ voices coming out of our mouths and choose words that build bridges instead of walls. And it’s so much easier when you’re doing it with others who get it and get you. Inside Gather, we practice this together - rewriting the scripts we inherited and creating new patterns rooted in connection. We’re learning that strength and gentleness aren’t opposites - they’re partners in raising emotionally secure children. Doors close in 3 days. ➡️ Comment “GATHER” to join parents, like you, who are brave enough to break generational cycles and create families where children feel truly seen, heard, and unconditionally loved. 🤍 🎥 Reel via: @soloparentsociety ✨ #raisedgood

Behind every tenth waking…is a mom who needed help long before this moment. If your baby is waking 10 times a night… That’s not a “bad baby” or a “weak mom.” It’s a signal that something deeper needs attention. While frequent night waking is normal for young babies, ten wakings per night often points to underlying factors such as: ✨GI discomfort or reflux ✨Structural Issues ✨Trauma or Birth Imprints ✨Hunger ✨ Feeding challenges ✨ Nervous system dysregulation ✨ Developmental leaps ✨ Environmental overstimulation ✨ Emotional overwhelm (baby + parent) ✨ Inconsistent co-regulation or routines ✨ Unmet sensory needs In most cases, the mother has not been given the tools, support, or education to understand why this is happening or what to do. And that’s what breaks my heart about this video. You can see this mama doing EVERYTHING she can… Until the tenth waking finally breaks her. This isn’t failure. This is burnout. This is lack of support. This is a system that leaves mothers drowning in exhaustion with no roadmap. Our hearts go out to this mother and baby. No parent should be alone in this. And no baby should struggle this much without someone asking why. There IS a holistic way to support families like this, one that looks at the root causes, nervous system health, reflux, feeding, circadian rhythms, sensory needs, emotional regulation, parental well-being, and the entire ecosystem around the baby. We didn’t create this video and don’t know who originally posted it. If you know the creator, please comment so we can properly credit them. But we’re sharing it to raise awareness… To shift the conversation… To advocate for real, compassionate, holistic support for mothers and babies who deserve more than “that’s just motherhood.” If you’re a parent struggling with nights like this, you’re not broken. You’re overwhelmed because you were never meant to do this alone. 💛 Save this for validation 💛 Share to support another mom tonight 💛 Follow @mar_decarlo + @parentinghealthinstitute for more holistic sleep wisdom Interested in a rewarding holistic sleep coaching career to support mothers and babies ? 3 things parents worry about that are actually worth paying attention to 🤍 If you’re worried about your child, that worry is often information, not fear. Don’t be afraid of what your maternal instincts are telling you. As mothers and fathers we are our children’s voice, their eyes and ears. Here are three concerns that science says deserve gentle curiosity, that I also agree with as a child & family psychologist : ✨ Big changes in behavior Sudden withdrawal, aggression, or sleep changes can be signs of stress. Children communicate emotions through behavior before words. ✨ Difficulty calming after stress All kids struggle sometimes, but ongoing trouble with regulation may signal they need more support, not more discipline. ✨ Loss of joy or connection When play, curiosity, or connection fade, for a prolonged period, it’s worth slowing down and leaning in. Trust yourself. Attuned parents notice patterns early and early support makes a real difference. Save this for the days you wonder if you’re ‘overthinking’. Often times you’re not. #parenting #parentingtips #childdevelopment #childpsychology #gentleparenting #attachmentparenting #mindfulparenting #parentintuition #parenteducation #mentalhealthforkids #emotionaldevelopment #raisingkids #supportingparents #parentlife #momlife #dadlife #earlychildhood #neurodevelopment #secureattachment #parentcoach #parentsofinstagram #familywellbeing #parentmentalhealth #nurturingparent #sciencebasedparenting #childmentalhealth #responsiveparenting #developmentalmilestones #parentingcommunity #savethispost

They often stem from what’s happening before it. Let’s talk about what really helps kids wind down (without the drama)? 💞 Connection before separation 💞
Your child needs to feel emotionally “full” before they can let go and sleep. Even 10–15 minutes of calm, present time together can make all the difference ✨Movement✨ helps release built-up energy and activate the calming nervous system. Try these scientific-proven techniques 👇 🚣‍♀️ “Row, row, row your boat” while holding hands (rhythmic motion calms the body) 🐢 Slow-motion animal walks (like turtle or sloth walks) 💨 Bubble breathing: inhale, exhale slowly like you’re blowing a bubble These help children shift from “go-go-go” mode to “rest and digest.” You can also create a wind-down ritual and keep it consistent - kids thrive on consistency and predictability 💕
Dim lights, soft voices, familiar songs or books - these cues tell your child’s brain: it’s safe to relax. It’s all about being predictable and connected…
You’re not failing. You’re parenting with love, safety, and attunement. That’s a huge win. 🫶 Tag your partner or a parent who’s deep in the bedtime battles. This stage won’t last forever, but I PROMISE the connection will. 🎥 @imjustbait • @mariagutierrezzz . . . #momlifebelike #mommemes #naturalparenting #peacefulparenting #gentleparenting #parentwithoutfear #motherhood #motherisaverb #connectedparenting #toddlerlife #normalizegentleparenting #gentlediscipline #emotionalregulation #respectfulparenting #parentalsupport #connectedchildraising #responsiveparenting #positiveparentingsolutions #positiveparentingtips #dadlife #momlife #cryitout #positiveparenting #montessori #parentingtips #parentingmemes #parenting101 #parentinghumor #parentingadvice #parentingtoddlers
