Puerto Rico has an invasive species problem with reticulated pythons! Retics are the longest snake species in the world and are native to Southeast Asia, but have become an invasive species in Puerto Rico! These massive constrictors were brought over via the pet trade, similar to the invasive Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades. I went to PR in search of these snakes with my friends ​⁠@danaturedude @brytheherpguy and the best snake hunter I know @snakeaholic We were able to capture three retics and drop them off with Luna who is heading up the retic project in PR! proyectoreticpr Check out my full trip video posted on the “main video app” I can’t name here because of the algorithm, on my GatorChris channel! If we can’t love them when they’re spicy we don’t deserve them when they’re sweet ♥️🐍 This is what I mean when I tell people retics are food dumb 🤦🏻‍♀️ Eirene mistook the snake hook for food (I saw she was in food mode so snagged it in an attempt to bring her out of it - it did not work 😆). If this ever happens do NOT leave the animal alone with the hook! It’s highly probable they will try and eat it, which can be detrimental to the snake. *no Erienes or snake hooks were harmed in the making of this film. Okay maybe the hook has some teeth marks but it will survive 😂 #goober #snakes #behavior #food #mode #why #pet #retics #snakelover
