How do you like to train your rear delts? If you’re a fan of the reverse pecdeck like we are; it can leave a little on the table in terms of an optimal rear delt movement. You get added stability compared to something like a bent over reverse fly or reverse cable fly, but trade-off is that you’re stuck with a somewhat unfavorable resistance curve. So, how can you fix that? All it requires is a slight change in your position and it becomes much more optimal for the rear delts! By turning sideways on the machine, you change the resistance curve to be more in favor of where the rear delt will be challenged the most, allowing for a better stimulus overall. I use adapter handles that increase the stretch by 3.5 inches per arm, boosting activation while using ~25% less weight. More tension, less joint wear. 2. Atlantis Side Lateral Raise – I clamp on custom handles that rotate the grip 90°. This internal rotation hits the lateral delts harder and more directly. I drop the weight ~20%, but the muscle gets no break. 3. Hammer Strength Overhead Press – Comes last, so the pre-fatigued rear and side delts shift the load forward. A pad behind the shoulder blades brings the handles into better alignment with the front delts—less shoulder strain, more drive. Train smarter. Feel stronger.
