Recently got the @dji_ronin RS5 as an upgrade from my RS3, this thing is a beast, it feels so much more refined and I don’t have to use an adapter now to shoot vertical. A 20 second adjustment with rebalance does that now. The new dials to balance are insane. I also have the RS4 Mini and whilst I’ve used it for the last year on and off, one of the things I disliked about it is I couldn’t track objects, now this one does! It has its limits, but it works great when used right. I can’t wait to test this out on some new Automotive shoots, absolutely keen. Are you thinking of getting the RS5? The NEW DJI RS5 Gimbal 🎥 This is the new RS 5 Gimbal by DJI, and it’s no doubt their most refined gimbal yet. I’ve been able to get super stable footage on gimbals for years now, so a lot of what I’m personally looking for in a gimbal is quality of life improvements - and that’s what I think DJI has nailed with this one. Full disclosure, @dji @djiglobal @dji_ronin sent this out for me to try out and review, but as always, these are my completely honest opinions. That said, this is not a FULL review, but I have been using this gimbal for a while now, and it’s just as you might expect from any other DJI product - well built, and easy to use. THE question: if you have an RS4 or RS3 already, should you upgrade to the RS5? Probably not, unless you can really benefit from the tracking. If not, the other upgrades really are great, but I can’t see upgrading a perfectly good RS4 for it. Coming from a Ronin S, SC, or RS2, that’s where I’d say go for it. I think this is a big enough leap from those generations for the cost differential to make sense. BTW, that last shot of the bird, while not ‘cinematically’ impressive, is an incredible example of the tracker in action. Yes, the bird is black against white snow, so that helps, but the bird is also super tiny and I’m really not all that close to it. Focal length was 45mm. Additionally, I’m shooting through a glass window AND this was just after sunset, so I’d safely consider it a ‘low light’ scenario. This is @dji_ronin new RS5 and the quality of life improvements are insane 😍 I feel like gimbals really haven’t changed over the last several generations. But with the RS5 they really just perfected as many aspects as possible. I’m coming from an RS2 Pro which I used daily. So the Enhanced tracking module, fine tuning knobs, and the fifth GEN stabilization algorithm really make a difference for what I’m using it for. Like the footage I’ve gotten from it is SMOOTH. @dji @djiglobal did send this out to me to test out! But all my opinions are my own. If you have a gimbal that’s a couple generations old then I’d personally consider upgrading.
