Very fortunate to get the opportunity to complete a sweat test at @universityofchichester with @andybriggs76 and @precisionfandh I had to complete a 60mins treadmill run in a 32 degree heat chamber, taking my weight before and after to see how much weight (sweat) I had lost. I ran with a patch on my arm where we could test the sodium lost in that sweat. My results - I lose 750ml of sweat an hour, and 760mg of sodium per 1L of sweat lost. Now I can be a bit more confident with my fuelling strategy in how I rehydrate myself 🙏🏻 In my post on electrolytes before, I mentioned it varies so much between individuals, which we could see on the day when we compared my results to others! Time to nerd out for Episode 4 of “The In-Between.” This 2-minute episode takes you inside Dr. Iain Hunter's biomechanics lab. We analyzed how my form and power changes while running, starting at an 8-minute mile pace and finishing at a 4-minute mile pace. Six months ago we did the same test, and now we get to geek out on the data from the lab and my Stryd Pods. The good: The data showed better efficiency—like more flight time for the same power because my leg springs are stiffer. The bad: The data still showed continued asymmetries—like longer ground contact time and higher loads on my right foot. Even a tiny improvement in ground contact time can lead to big energy savings. Huge thank you to Doc (@byuiain), and the team at @StrydRunning for not only powering this series, but for digging into the numbers with me. It's fascinating to see how the lab data and the Stryd data tell the same story and give us a path forward. We know I'm powerful. Now we just have to get that power moving me forward.

At one point the entire trail became a literal stream of water flowing down the mountain. Fell hard four times on technical terrain. Covered in mud, blood, and sweat by the end. My feet screamed for the final 30 miles. They felt completely raw toward the finish, and every single step was a lesson in controlled misery. We kept moving forward anyway.This is what UTMB does to you. Throws obstacle after obstacle at you until problem-solving becomes instinct and not quitting becomes your only option. The mountains test your gear, your training, and your will to continue when everything hurts.The damage tells the story better than words ever could. These feet carried me through my 6th finish in the worst conditions I've ever experienced. They earned it. Smile, or you're doing it wrong #utmb

Result: Soft steps = 7% faster than loud steps! Turns out being sneaky on your feet isn’t just polite — it’s faster too🤯. So what’s the difference? Loud feet: just run normally, let the natural sound happen. Quiet feet: land under your hips, run smoothly (not silently), let your legs cycle instead of stomp, and keep ankles soft, not stiff😊. On the day, I’m pretty sure I ruined a few people’s chill in the park with my pounding feet.
