This breakfast spot in Salida, CO was delicious. We started with caramel pistachio lattes followed by The Avalanche & the hot mess.
Loved all the wall paper & pig pics on the wall. It is located above Sweeties Sandwich shop. We asked for our window to be open so we could enjoy the fresh cool air. Their is also a rooftop that wasn’t open this am, but does have extra seating and killer views. @salidacochamber @visitsalidaco

NOA crowd favorite at FIBArk in Salida, Colorado is the Hooligan Race 5:30PM Saturday June 15, 2024
Calling this a whitewater paddling event may be generous, but saying it is one of the most fun events of FIBArk would be right on.
The Hooligan Race is open to anything that floats that’s not a boat. Hooligans dress up in costume and the winner is chosen by crowd support. This spectacle of “controlled chaos” is a local tradition that always produces a huge turnout on Saturday evening.

Nearby Salida, this lakeside campground is quiet and serene, perfect for a weekend getaway!
You can canoe, kayak or paddleboard in the lake. As well as fish for rainbow trout - Colorado fishing license is required (day or annual pass options).
Costs $10 for day use or $28 for overnight camping. There are RV and tent sites available and reservations can be made online. We arrived without a reservation and were able to get a prime lakeside spot over the holiday weekend!

Living in Salida, Colorado is a lifestyle choice and often calls to those ready to escape the hustle of the city and prioritize a life focused on living fuller opposed to faster.
I filmed this video on a trail run on a Wednesday morning with a work colleague before getting back to work. It was a short run from my downtown Salida office.
This is the lifestyle I chose after leaving Denver, CO in 2017. And I can't imagine ever going back.
