WIThese are the things my mom taught me about making a house feel warm that I didn’t appreciate until I became a mom.
It was about a candle always burning in the kitchen and spaces that invited people to sit and stay awhile.
Now I catch myself doing the same things… choosing warmth, baking on a Sunday, setting out fresh towels, and styling shelves with family pictures and pieces that feel lived-in instead of perfect.
Because the homes we remember most aren’t spotless.
They’re welcoming. They’re slow. They’re full of life.
Turns out the warmth I grew up with is the same warmth I’m trying to give my kids now. Here is a list of the things I’m doing to make our house feel like home:

- Fresh flowers clipped from the yard

- Lamps for coziness instead of overhead lights
- Folding laundry at the kitchen table
