Save this checklist and come back to it whenever your edges start looking messy 👇 Straight crochet edges – quick control list 🧶 ✔️ 1. Always count your stitches If you miss one stitch or add an extra one — your edge will start to wave. No exceptions. ✔️ 2. Use stitch markers for the first and last stitch Believe me — it saves a LOT of time and prevents most mistakes. ✔️ 3. Don’t forget the turning chain Your turning chain is part of the edge. 👉 You must work into it in the next row. ✔️ 4. Turn your work in the same direction every time Changing direction can twist your edge and make it uneven. ✔️ 5. For the next row (my clean-edge method) Chain 1, turn your work, and make your first single crochet into the 3rd stitch from the hook (not the 2nd — the 3rd). ✨ This small detail makes a huge difference for a straight edge. 🎁 Bonus tip: Keep the same yarn tension all the time — to avoid holes, stretched stitches, or overly tight edges. 👉 I will explain it slowly and step-by-step in my full tutorial on YouTube — HobbyMania. Save this if neat edges matter to you 🧶✨ #crochettips #crochetedges #crochetmistakes #crochetbeginner #hobbymania crochetreels cleanfinish crochetshorts

Comment for detailed YouTube tutorial link. 🔗 (Link in Bio). As a beginner, it can be confusing to figure out where or how to start crocheting. So I thought of starting a series where we will move one step at a time! 🐥 Last week we learnt how to make a slip knot. Today, we will be learning how to wrap the yarn around our left hand. This helps you control tension (which affects how tight or loose your stitches turn out) and the smooth movement of the working yarn while crocheting. Both of them are an integral part of the process. Don’t hold the yarn too tight or loose.🧶 However, the most important thing to remember is that uniform tension and control over your working yarn can be tricky as a beginner. It will take you time and lots of practice to get it right. So don’t lose hope if you don’t get it right in the first few attempts. Tension should be neither too tight nor too loose. ♥️ There are multiple methods to wrap the yarn, I have shared the one which I find the easiest. You can tweak and alter the method to your comfort.🌸 I’m holding the hook in my right hand. The two most common ways of holding the hook are knife grip and pencil grip. But these are not the only two methods, you can hold it in any way that is comfortable and makes learning easier for you. It will take you some time to figure out your natural grip. 🧶 Do you use another method? 🧶 ▶️The working yarn is the yarn strand that is connected to your yarn ball or skein. It leads back to the skein. Practice is key! 🙌🏻✨ Follow @crochet.chronicles_ #crochetbasics #crochetforbeginners #crochettutorial #easycrochet #crochet101 Crochet basics, crochet guide, crochet 101, crochet tutorial, crochet for beginners, crochet how to begin crochet, crochet starting, how to wrap yarn crochet, how to hold yarn crochet, how to start crochet.

Happy Just-A-Tip-Tuesday - If you’ve ever tried crocheting a loop stitch the traditional way, where the loop is formed in the back, you know how tricky it can be. So many steps to remember, it always felt awkward and took forever to work up. For a while I avoided the stitch completely until I found there was another, much easier, method. With this method the loops are worked in the front and can be made with almost any other basic stitch, not just single crochet. And before anyone asks, yes each loop is secured... see end of the video! To have loops only on one side of the work, alternate between rows with and without loops. Or have loops on both sides by adding them to every row. P.S. This is a great decorative stitch, works great as fringe or hair/fur on amigurumi. #theknottyboss #crochettip #crochetsecrets #crochettutorial #loopstitch

How to change colour for half double crochet, mid row? 🌈⬇️ For example: We are working with Colour A and have made 6 half double crochet (hdc) stitches and we want our 8th hdc stitch in new colour B. To change colour: 1. Start making the 7th hdc using colour A. Yarn over (YO), insert your hook and pull up a loop. You now have 3 loops on your hook. 2. Now let go of colour A. Bring in colour B. Place it behind your 7th stitch ( as shown). Wrap colour B around your fingers. 3. Now YO (colour B) and pull through the all 3 loops on your hook. 4. Tighten/ gently pull the two yarn colours to secure the stitch and shape. This will ensure a neat colour change. 5. With this our 7th stitch is complete and the yarn colour has been changed to Colour B. 6. We are now ready to make the 8th stitch in colour B. Make your hdc stitches in the new colour as usual. 7. If you want to change colour again to Colour A, carry it along. 8. Now, for example we want to change colour again and want the 12th hdc in Colour A. 9. Start making the 11th stitch as usual in colour B. YO, pull up a loop. Now let go of Colour B. Pick up Colour A which you have been carrying along. Wrap it around your fingers. 10. YO (colour A), pull through all 3 loops on your hook. Tighten. You have changed colour again. Now continue making hdc stitches as usual in colour A. Do you follow another method to change colour? I would love to try it out 🧶🌸 Follow @crochet.chronicles_ #crochetcolourchange #halfdoublecrochet #crochettutorial #crochetforbeginners #easycrochet Crochet colour change, easy colour change crochet, half double crochet colour change, crochet colour change hdc, crochet basics, crochet guide, crochet for beginners, crochet techniques, crochet 101, hdc colour change
