DA🧑💻 Being an App Developer / Software Engineer in 2025 vs. 2021
A lot can change in 4 years 😅 It’s not as bad as it looks, but it’s definitely more difficult to get a job now.
📝 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀:
- the global economy is not growing as much as in 2021
- there’s less funding for startups —> less demand for projects
- AI took over some of the tech work
- layoffs from companies put more developers “on the market” looking for a job
- companies and more cautious in general with hiring
🤔 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼?
- stick to our current jobs / clients before trying anything crazy
- learn AI tools and use them often, to stay competitive
- be willing to put in some extra hours for personal projects or freelancing gigs
- stay optimistic and connect with like-minded people
I actually quit my job last year 😅 sort of, I’m still working with a startup and helping other devs / companies occasionally. This year will be different and exciting, stay tuned for more updates.
