💀 Australia has so many spiders because its warm climate lets them stay active and breed for longer, and a lot of the country doesn’t get the long, freezing winters that wipe out spider populations elsewhere. Many areas also have plenty of insects for food, plus huge ranges of habitats, from rainforests to deserts, which means lots of different spider species can thrive. On top of that, Australia has been geographically isolated for millions of years, so spiders evolved into a wide variety of unique types there, making them feel extra common and everywhere. I would not ask you to live without fear, BECAUSE I AM A VERY FEARFUL MAN. There are oodles of things to be afraid of in life, but arachnids aren’t one of them. Spider may LOOK frightening, but there’s no reason to fear something 1/1000th of your size, especially when only about 1% of all spiders on earth have legitimately dangerous venom. I know fear is an irrational response and people can’t control it, but even if you are afraid, you don’t have to snuff them out on sight. I understand the exceptions, like if you live in an area with venomous species and have a family to think about, then of course. BUT, if you just see a daddy-long leg and start freaking out, then I feel like that’s a little silly 🥹🥰 #animals #spiders #insects #wildlife #positivity
