Goal: Be the first player to play all of the cards from your personal stock piles and Spit deck into the Spit piles in the middle of the table.
Using a standard deck of cards, remove the jokers and deal out the deck evenly between two players. (26 cards to each)
Each player creates 5 stock piles of cards down in front of them solitaire style
1 card in the first stack,
2 in the second,
3 in the third,
4 in the fourth,
5 in the fifth.
Players flip over the top card of each of their five piles.
The remaining 11 cards form your Spit deck and are held in your non-dominant hand.
You are now ready to play.
At the same time, players flip over the top card from their spit deck to the center to form two piles and say “Spit!”
Going as quickly as possible, players play cards from the stock piles in front of them onto the spit piles in the center so long as the card is one rank higher or lower. Rank loops, so you may play an Ace on a King or a Two.
Suits are ignored.
When you play a card from a stock pile, you flip over the card beneath it; if you ever empty a one of your stock piles completely, you may move a card from the top of another pile into the empty space so you always have 5 stock piles.
If neither player can play a card from in front of them, both simultaneously flip another card from their spit deck into the center.
When one player has played all the cards from in front of them they slap one of the two center piles and shout spit. The pile they slapped is the pile they take an forms their hand for the next round with their opponent taking the other pile into their hand along with any cards left in front of them.
If you have fewer than 15 cards to form your stock piles, deal them out as far as possible, there will now only be one spit deck in the center.
Players repeat the above until one player has played all the cards from their stock piles and spit deck.
