🏠 Sugar Shacks are cabin(s) where sap from the maple trees are collected (typically during spring) and boiled into maple syrup.
🍁 Did you know Canada produces roughly 85% of the world’s pure maple syrup? About 90% of it is produced in the Québec province alone 🤯
🥧 Traditionally, families gather at the sugar shack to celebrate the beginning of spring by having a hearty traditional Québécois meal. There is often music, dancing and making maple taffy on snow!
There are many sugar shacks in Quebec that you can try. The one we went to was É𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢è𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐮 𝐋𝐚𝐜-𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭. We didn’t have the full dinner experience but it was so much fun trying the maple taffy made in-house! They are open all year round and take reservations for dinner. I highly recommend this experience if you’re ever in Quebec 🧡
