Don’t do these drills… ❌ Unless you want to go fast! 1) 3 press - 1 stroke Focus on engaging your torso like a lever. Press your chest to the bottom on the pool and get your hips up out of the water! On the 3rd press do a full stroke while over exaggerating your press. 2) 2-2-2 Drill Work on the timing of your arms swinging around. When your arms hit the top of your line start to engage the press of your chest. Use this drill to figure out your rhythm without getting too tired! #swim #swimmingdrills #swimming #swimmer #swimtechnique

If you’re a beginner swimmer, these 5 drills will change the way you train. 1. Breathing at the wall. Inhale with your mouth, exhale through your nose. Do it 10–15 times until it feels natural. 2. Freestyle kick at the wall. One hand on the wall, one by your side. Practice side breathing, keep one eye in the water, rotate your shoulders. 3. Push-off and glide. Work on your streamline and body balance. Head down, arms tight. 4. Push-off and kick. Same as above but add kicks. No breathing. Stay long and controlled. 5. Single arm freestyle with board. Stretch under the board, finish your pull. Don’t breathe every stroke — keep your rhythm. Want more beginner drills to improve faster? Something like “THIS IS NOT A LIFESAVING FLOATATION DEVICE.” And yet, so many of us just lay on the kickboard as if it’s a floaty!🛟 That is LAZY kicking😴 “Piano Kick” removes the ability to “lay” on the board by calling for only the fingertips to press on the board👇 What does this do to our posture? It forces us to engage our core. What does that mean? Pull your belly button into your spine and flatten your back across the surface of the water - as if you’re doing a plank. This high body position is critical for fast swimming (and kicking). No more arching your lower back. No more taking a nap during kick sets. This drill forces you to keep your head in line by holding a tennis ball under your chin. The ball gives instant feedback. If you lift too early or push your head forward, it slips. When your head stays calm and still, your body stays higher, your pull becomes smoother, and your kick becomes more efficient.
