AZFor those of you that are new to our page! Welcome, I’m Dana the owner and creative behind AZ Sleepy Teepee. It all started when my daughter turned ten in 2018 and we hosted her first sleepover party.
Since then AZ Sleepy Teepee has completed over 2500 parties, sent out tens of thousands of teepees and mattresses, been featured in the media multiple times, have gone through several glow ups and love creating magical memories on a weekend basis for families all across the valley.
My favorite part about this business is using my creativity. See I started this adult life of mine as a teacher where I loved working with kids and getting creative with their learning process. From art projects to making sure I reached each and every kid at the level they could learn the best. Then I left (bc being a single momma on a teachers salary was near impossible) and choose entrepreneurship. Met my now husband while I started as a muralist @kidmuralsbydana and ran a successful business painting murals all over the valley including the Diamondbacks Stadium. Then that daughter of mine turned 10 and I decided to start this “side hustle” to my full time painting career. Well within 2 years I wasn’t painting murals anymore, teepees and sleepovers took over my life (and my house, lol).
I also started the @sleepy_teepee_academy to help other event business professionals grow and scale their businesses, as well as @sleepyteepee_boutique where we sell all items needed for an amazing party or sleepover.
Fast forward 8 years and we have a team of delivery crew, rent a 1100 sq ft house for all the inventory, and have multiple parties every single weekend. I’ve made countless connections with planners, caterers, event rental companies and so much more in this biz. I really know some of the best of the best and it’s an honor to work alongside side them.

THThe sweet pea teepee 2023 is finally in place! It's taken me a week on an off to put all of the elements together but I'm really pleased with the finished result. Now, I just need to be patient, wait for the magic to happen and the flowers ( hopefully)to bloom in all their glory!
To create the teepee I've used 10 x 10 litre pots and 5ft bamboo canes to create the main base structure.
The plain black unappealing pots have been covered in jute fabric, which has been pleated and stapled at the base and tied with brown jute twine around the top.To finish off the look , I folded the top edges to neaten and wrapped with pretty pink neon twine from @nutscene
Each pot contains three sweet pea plants which were sown in September last year ( predominantly), although some have been sown in January this year. I sow 3 sweet peas seeds into 9cm Square pots and they remain in these pots until they are planted outside after hardening off.
The plants have been contained within a copper scourer ring to try and prevent slug and snail damage. The hairy fibres of the jute covering also provides an additional defence as does the potting grit topping whilst also giving a more attractive look.

• Mumsie (Mum's Macmillan seeds)
• Nimbus
• Aquarius (Mum's Macmillan seeds)
• Earl Grey (Mum's Macmillan seeds)
• Tutti Frutti ( Non-tendril)
