PAWe’ve officially moved into our new office and are taking some better videos showcasing both Surge and Genesis.
In this video we are showcasing Surge, Alt-Bionics’ 6 Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) robotic hand.
Surge is being controlled here in real time using MANUS Quantum teleoperation gloves. This teleoperation capability is critical for imitation learning (Human in-the-loop training) and high-stakes teleoperation scenarios such as bomb disposal, disaster response, remote surgery (eventually), and operating in environments too dangerous or inaccessible for humans.
Even in fully autonomous systems, teleoperation remains essential as a fallback. It allows a human operator to step in during edge cases, unexpected events, or when nuanced judgment is required.

DEFigure unveils its 3rd generation humanoid, the Figure 03, optimized for home and commercial use with Helix AI. The robot performs long-horizon tasks fully autonomously, without teleoperation, and is 9% lighter than its predecessor.
Redesigned hands, sensors, and a compact camera system deliver higher frame rates, lower latency, and a 60% wider field of view. The Figure 03 also introduces 2kW wireless charging and first-gen tactile sensors capable of detecting forces as low as 3 grams. Production scales aim for 12,000 units per year, with a long-term target of 100,000 robots.

In this example, the robot is in PD impedance mode where it essentially acts as a virtual spring. The KP and KD numbers are parameters for the PD controller that runs on each joint of the robot, and changing them alters the impedance of the robot.
Impedance control involves controlling how "stiff" or "compliant" the robot feels when it interacts with the environment. In this example, the robot has high compliance, meaning the system is deformable and flexible.

KRAfter lots of testing, we finally got teleoperation working using a motion-capture glove!
The Krysalis Hand mirrors human motion well, though we’re working on improving the speed.
Next, we’re adding full arm control by integrating teleop for the cobot+robot system.
The live URDF plot of the Krysalis Hand on PyBullet helps visualize real-time cloning of human hand motions onto the robot.
