If you're new to knitting pattern design, it’s totally normal to feel a bit unsure about what test knitting actually is. Hopefully this helps clear things up! It isn’t a replacement for tech editing, and it’s not the stage where test knitters are supposed to find errors for you. That part should already be sorted in tech editing. Test knitting is really the beta-testing stage. It shows you how clear your pattern is to other knitters and how the fit behaves across sizes you haven't been able to knit yourself. That kind of feedback is what strengthens the final pattern and makes it easier for everyone to follow. If you’d like to see how I run test knitting as a designer, the test knit for my new Murmur sweater is open now. I’m so excited to see this one on more knitters! Details are in my Stories highlight.

Hi friends, I need some test knitters for my newest design, a reversible raglan pullover. This design uses dk-weight yarn, comes in 9 sizes with compound shaping for a good fit across all 9, and has intentional finishing so that the sweater can be worn inside out - 2 garments in one! Photos at the end of the reel show inside vs outside. Two-colour stripes or 1000, it’s up to you. Could be a great scrappy project if using up stash yarn is one of your intentions for 2026! Just be aware there are minimal ends to weave in for two-colour but if it’s scrappy with a new colour for every stripe, every stripe has 2 ends to weave 😅. Info on techniques, etc. is in the screenshots in the video. If it looks like something you’d like to test, comment below letting me know your experience level, what size you would knit, your instagram handle (for the test knit chat) and if the timeline (one month) works for you! Also a note on sizing: the sizing is determined by chest circumference, not age! So while there are only 6 sizes, they should fit children between the ages of 1 and 12. Check the size chart to figure out which one is best for you! #knitting #knittingpattern #testknit

Yarn: This is a perfect stash-buster project. Many of you probably have leftover silk mohair and some heavy fingering or sport weight yarn in your stash. You can also use sock yarn leftovers. Small amounts are enough, which makes this project ideal for using those beautiful yarn remnants. In a couple of days I will message the knitters I select, and we’ll continue in a dedicated Instagram test knit chat. For those who would simply like to knit these cuffs later — don’t worry. The test knit will be quick, about one week, and the pattern will be released soon after. Timeline: • Test knit starts Thursday March 12 (after I select participants) • Test knit ends March 22 This is more than enough time to knit these lovely little accessories.
