This is an extremely advanced drill, not only for the student it also for the coach. If you have an athlete that is not strengthen their feet properly or is dealing with Achilles and ankle issues or a coach that is inexperienced in eccentric loading. Please do not attempt this. I’m finding out a lot of people skip their track workouts because they can’t find a track? Even schools ! Wait what lol 🔑 you can definitely do them anywhere. It’s more about how you did what you did, more than WHERE you did what you did. 🔑Majority of my track workouts are in the middle of my longer runs, or at a nearby park. 🔑 If you can’t get to the gym, try doing a strong dynamic warm-up mixed with 3 point starts going up a hill. It requires more hip strength and will build those tendons. 🔑Track workouts knock the wind out of you while building your glute muscles. They’re very important elements that he was not taught, and was not implemented into his foundation. Here’s how I did it ⬇️ Firstly, I’ve never been a really high milage runner (because I get injured a lot) but some people may find that doing more easy miles as well as hard sessions is helpful. Also, side note, I had some base training and descent fitness before I started doing these sessions weekly, so consider easing into it if you are starting out. ✔️ Mileage - Kept it low at about 40K a week. ✔️ Easy runs - Just 1 or 2 to flush the legs out Faster Sessions 🏃🏻‍♂️ ✔️ Treadmill Progression Run – 10-min warm-up, then increasing speed every 3 mins until I was hanging on for dear life. ✔️ 6 x 800m Track Repeats – Consistent pace, but exertion should be increasing throughout the reps. ✔️ 30-min tempo or 2 x 1km pretty much all out. ✔️ 1-2 gym sessions Nothing too fancy, just repetitions.
