When you go to kick your new (used) dirtbike and think it’s seized up! Luckily it turned out to just be the cylinder filled up with gas. Here’s what went down. Bought the bike with 40h with a lectern (biletron) and it ran fine at 1,000ft elevation 2 months ago. Finally healed enough to ride and finished up the build (didnt touch the carb or motor other than clutch cover, pipe and fan connected to battery). The bike started but every throttle twist had a very big bog at 2500ft elevation. After shutting it off it started to pour out gas. Took the lectron carb off, cleaned it all out and made the metering richer by 1/2 a turn to the right. But now the bike wouldn’t start at all and would leak out gas from the carb overflow. Decided I understood regular carbs better so I cleaned out the stock Mikuni, and put the JD jet kit in. Put a new spark plug in and checked the spark. Checked the reeds and there was a little bit of light on the sides of the reeds but I didnt have any new reeds so I just replaced the reed gasket. Got the bike to start but it was late at night so I didnt run it much although the bog seemed to be fixed. The next morning I tried to start it and it acted like the battery was dead but luckily this baby has a kick start so I tried to kick it but it only moved the piston a little bit before locking up. Scared me big time! I thought it was seized but I checked the piston through the pipe outlet and it was fine. I took the spark plug off and realized the cylinder was filled with gas! I noticed that the guy included some spare parts with the bike and there was an all balls Mikuni rebuild kit with a few extra jets, so I’m thinking maybe the float needle was of pour quality and letting gas to pass through? My next step is to replace that float needle, replace the reeds and check the float height. However I’m a bit confused as to why both carbs were overflowing gas.. Ever had this problem or thoughts on how to fix? #DiamondFail
