Tricep Pushdowns are a quintessential exercise for the triceps with numerous ways to perform them. Here are 3 versions increasing in complexity (3rd level is my personal favorite) 1) Rope Tricep Pushdown: prolly the most common variant, if you tend to get wrist pain using a straight or curved bar, rope is a good option 2) Single Arm Tricep Pushdown: huge upgrade from using the rope and performing bilaterally. If you tend to get shoulder pain using a rope, this is a good alternative 3) Single arm Cross Body Tricep Extension: ironically the most cheat-proof variation if you get the form down and likely the best for biasing the long head. Also should be the most comfortable on your shoulder #fitness #gym

Despite what some people will tell you, doing underhand tricep pushdowns hits the same part of your tricep as overhand but it puts your wrist in an uncomfortable position and you can’t lift as much weight. You’re better off sticking with overhand. Instead of standing upright, lean slightly forward to get a more effective range of motion. Although there’s nothing wrong with using one rope, if you use two, you’ll be able to get a better contraction at the bottom.
