This video is from a few years ago. The circuit I was working on was fully isolated and earthed under a permit to work system, however a live circuit over 8m away was still inducing voltage.
It shows just how powerful electricity can be, even when you think you’re a safe distance away.

Watching a lineman grab a 30,000-volt power line looks impossible at first. At that level, electricity can be instantly deadly. The only reason this is safe is the specialized insulated gear he’s wearing, especially the gloves. They’re built with multiple layers of rubber and tested to handle extreme voltage without letting current pass through the body.
Electricity always looks for the easiest path to the ground. If a worker’s body became that path, the result would be fatal. The insulation creates a protective barrier, stopping the current and allowing trained professionals to work on lines that would otherwise be untouchable. It’s a mix of engineering, strict safety standards, and serious training that makes this kind of work possible.
