MYAnjana was once an apsara, a celestial nymph who was cursed to be born on earth as a vanara. She lived in the Himalayas as the wife of Kesari, a vanara chieftain, and devoted herself to prayer, seeking release from her curse and the blessing of a divine child.
While she wandered the mountains, Vayu, the god of wind, was drawn to her devotion and beauty. When Anjana feared for her vow of fidelity, Vayu assured her that no harm would come to her, and that she would bear a son born of divine power and wisdom.
Through the grace of Vayu, Anjana conceived a child destined for a greater purpose. Thus was born Hanuman, the son of the Wind, blessed with immense strength, intelligence, and devotion.
Born of a celestial lineage and shaped by the breath of the wind, Hanuman would grow to become Rama’s greatest ally and a force against adharma.
