The Shree Vimleshwar Temple, located in the serene coconut and betel nut groves of Wada, Devgad, is an ancient and unique Lord Shiva shrine renowned as one of the oldest in the Konkan region, with local beliefs tracing its origin back to the Pandava era, potentially dating its excavation over 2,000 years ago. This magnificent structure is a rare example of a monolithic laterite rock (Katal) cave temple, carved directly into a huge stone formation. The approach features intricately carved sculptures, including giant elephant guardians, and its main sanctum houses a revered Swayambhu Shivlingam situated at a raised height, a distinguishing feature among Indian temples. The temple complex, which includes subsidiary shrines like the Kalbhairav cave and a Ganesha temple, is noted for its beautiful, secluded surroundings and a mysterious perennial stream that flows from the rock, adding to the site's spiritual and archaeological significance as a truly unique cultural monument.

कोकणातील देवगड तालुक्यात 'वाडे' गावचे श्री देव विमलेश्वर मंदिर हे एक जागृत देवस्थान आहे. हे मंदिर म्हणजे प्रत्यक्षात एक कोरीव लेणेच आहे. साधारणतः पंधरा मीटर उंच व शंभर मीटर लांब अशा कातळी खडकात हे मंदिर कोरलेले आहे.🕉️ गाभाऱ्याच्या मध्यभागी भगवान शंकराची संपूर्ण काळ्या दगडाची पिंडी आहे. हे शिवलिंग स्वयंभू आहे.🕉️📿
मंदिराच्या दोन्ही बाजूंस दोन हत्ती कोरलेले आहेत व त्यांच्या शेजारी दीपमाळा आहेत.🐘 मंदिराच्या पायऱ्या चढताच भली मोठी घंटा टांगलेली दिसते. पुढे जाताच सभामंडप लागतो. मंदिरात अंधार असल्याने तेथे वटवाघळांचा वावर बराच असतो.🦇 त्यांच्या चित्काराने दचकायला होते. तेथून काही पायऱ्या चढल्यावर मंदिराचा गाभारा लागतो. मध्यभागी सुबक आकारातील शंकराची पिंड व नंदीची मूर्ती लक्ष वेधून घेते. तेथील गाभाऱ्यात उंचावर असलेले शिवलिंग हे भारतातील दुर्मीळ वैशिष्ट्य.🚩🛕🌴
