CY🤬 Visma | Lease a Bike files complaint against ‘extremely aggressive’ drunk supporters
During the fourth stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, an incident involving two drunk supporters occurred. One of them climbed onto the Visma | Lease a Bike team manager’s car and attempted to remove a bicycle from the roof. According to the team, the other supporter behaved extremely aggressively towards the occupants of the car.
The Dutch team is now taking the necessary steps against the two supporters in question. “We take this incident very seriously, as it jeopardizes the safety of our colleagues,” stated team manager Richard Plugge in a press release. “Our people on the scene went directly to the police and also reported the incident to the organizers.”
“Ultimately, they did not succeed in stealing any equipment and no damage was caused. The colleagues in the car are okay, but naturally shaken,” concludes Plugge.
Visma | Lease a Bike is still competing in Italy with Patryk Goszczurny, Sven Mernik, Elliot Rowe, and Anton Schiffer. The team leader on duty is the Luxemburger Gaëtan Pons.
