We all have things to do, money to make, dreams to chase. But tell me, what’s the point of all that if your health is quietly slipping away? The key follow-up finding: Researchers controlled for weight loss and found only 1/3 of cardiovascular benefit came from weight reduction. 2/3 was completely independent of weight loss. Paradigm shift: From “weight loss drugs that help the heart” to “cardiovascular drugs that also cause weight loss.” This is exciting data but we need more research. Maybe we’ve been thinking about GLP-1s backwards, the scale is just one part of the story.
