But what isn’t measured can’t be managed. Taking a few extra moments to log your workouts ensures you stay on track toward your goals. Keep track of your sets, reps, and weights for each exercise. Prioritize protein. Protein is essential for building muscle. The months when I’m looking and feeling my best are when I consistently hit my daily protein intake goal. Whether you are dieting for the summer or trying to gain weight, a high protein diet will keep you satiated throughout the day and ensure you are recovered for your next workout. Aim to consume 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight daily. Level up your lifestyle. There is so much more to getting in shape than just lifting the weights. Training in the gym is only 3-5 hours of your week. You can’t blame your 3-5 hour weekly training routine for failing you when the other 163 hours of your week are not aligned with your goals. Level up your diet, sleep, and stress management—all of which significantly impact your recovery and results.
