MOPULL-FOLD 3D NETS
I’ve seen this awesome idea so many times over the last few years, but the perfect time to work on them presented itself after our recent study of the properties of geometric solids. I found some templates on the Mr Mathematics website that had the hole punch spots marked, so we started with those. I suggested we color ours on both sides so we would have something to look at when they were folded and unfolded. We then punched holes, glued them to card stock, and threaded out holes with string. These have been SO much fun to play with and are still out to be transformed. My 9yo is pondering how to make a pull-fold icosohedron, which is pretty complex. We may try a few more solids that I have templates for and we can figure out where to punch the holes to make them fold.

MAMy solution to last weeks modelling challenge. 😁
While the intersecting bevels might looks tricky, the topology isn’t overly complicated. I also use one cheeky ngon to help with simplifying the topology and maintaining lean surface normals. 😁
