Lost a yard since the new year. Stop start fixtures. Games called off. 
Now we have Saturday Tuesday coming and you need to be ready. Here is a quick win you can start this week. Before training. Warm up properly. Then hit this short work. Session 1
4 x 20m. Pogos into hard acceleration. 2 minutes between reps. Stiff ankles. Punch the ground. Chase knee drive. Session 2
4 x 60m. Build to max velocity. Full 4 minutes between reps.
Tall. Powerful Strides. Slow down after 60m not before. Do this twice a week on training nights for the next two weeks. Not only are you going to feel sharp again. This is how you protect hammies in season.

Speed is the ultimate weapon in modern footy — it’s what separates good players from game changers. But you can’t just rely on game fitness or a few 20m sprints at training and expect to get faster. The preseason is where genuine speed and acceleration is built. When you’ve got the time to focus on your mechanics, explosiveness, and how efficiently you move. Because once the season starts, it’s too late to build speed, you’re only maintaining it. If you want to actually get faster, dominate contests, and create separation from opponents next year, your preseason speed work needs structure and purpose.
