Australian YouTuber Nathan Pope was one of 15 people named in a defamation lawsuit brought on by Andrew and Tristan Tate in March 2025. Mr Pope has won a bid to have the case dismissed, with a US judge ruling that since several of the defendants named in the suit do not live in Florida, the court therefore did not have legal jurisdiction over them. The Tate brothers are now appealing that outcome. Video by Leah MacLennan, via ABC News SA. Social version by David Douglas Stuart for the ABC News Social Media Team. Premier Peter Malinauskas became tearful during a media conference where he faced extensive questions about the crisis surrounding Adelaide Writers' Week and allegations of homophobia against Adelaide United made by former player Josh Cavallo. It followed former AWW director Louise Adler's resignation from her position on Tuesday morning. Mr Malinauskas continued to defend and support the Adelaide Festival board's decision to cancel the appearance of Palestinian-Australian author Randa Abdel-Fattah at AWW. "If Writers’ Week seeks my views on things, and I certainly offered them, it's up to them whether or not what decisions they make and they get held account for them accordingly," he said. The premier then began to choke back tears when asked about a series of topics, including about footballer Josh Cavallo's allegations against his former club Adelaide United and whether his response to Izak Rankine’s homophobic slur had been strong enough. “Criticise me for being too strong, criticise me for not being strong enough… on all these things, I do my best to settle my conscience and offer a view that I believe is consistent with the interests of compassion and advancing the cause of people treating each other with decency and humanity, regardless of their background," he said. Dozens of people have been arrested and charged with more than 800 offences in a major Operation Ironside sting across South Australia linked to the encrypted AN0M app. The latest arrests follow a ruling handed down by the High Court earlier this month, which backed new laws that supported the use of the AN0M app in prosecutions — paving the way for criminal prosecutions to proceed and leading to a flurry of guilty pleas. 📱: Get the news that matters to you straight from the source.
