Think uncharted meets Indians jones meets guardians of the galaxy! I had an absolute blast reading this book. It pulled me out of a depressive slump with its humor, found family, and immersive world building. It felt like I was watching a movie. Truly I can’t wait to follow along the gang in their future adventures. Space pirates for the win 🏴☠️✨

I loved many book genres as a kid/young adult, but especially the ones where traveling or exploring were involved.
These books made me dream of going on my own adventures one day:
- Around the World in 80 days, by Jules Verne: ADORED this book, I read it in just 2 days when I was about 13 after thrifting it at the local market. Definitely was a major influence!
- Paper Towns, by John Green: I read about everything Green wrote, but this one resonated with me the most.
- Journey to the Centre of the Earth, by Jules Verne: I think Verne is in many ways the king of the adventure story. There are so many more books of his I could recommend.
- The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, by Ann Brashares: is it obvious I'm a millennial girlie growing up in the 2000s??
- The adventures of Tin Tin (in Dutch: Kuifje), by Hergé: my dad has a huge collection of Tin Tin comic books so I grew up dreaming of exploring every corner of the world, and wanting a dog to come with me
- Gulliver's Travels, by Jonathan Swift: another thrift shop find and loved every page.
