I’m 49… and I really wish someone had told me this in my early 40s 🤍 Not in a scary way… not in a “you’re doing everything wrong” way… But in a “hey… your body is changing, and you might need to support it differently now” kind of way 💁🏻‍♀️ Because here’s the thing no one really says… You can be eating well working out doing all the “right” things… and still feel off tired wired not like yourself (we’ve been there too 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️) It’s not because you’re doing it wrong. It’s because midlife asks for a different approach. ✨ The 5 habits we’d start in our early 40’s (or come back to if you’re closer to our age!) 1. Regulate your nervous system daily (even 5–10 minutes makes a difference) 2. Prioritize protein + blood sugar balance at every meal 3. Strength train consistently (this becomes non-negotiable in midlife) 4. Get outside + walk daily (sunlight + movement = magic) 5. Reduce your toxic load where you can (simple swaps, not perfection) Simple… but powerful. Entering my 40s forced me to stop guessing & start training, fueling & living with intention. If I wanted to feel strong, lean, mentally clear & confident, these 10 became non-negotiables: -Under-eating & random nutrition: I stopped eating less & started eating enough. Protein became the priority, around 1.2–1.6 g per kg body weight. Meals built around protein, not snacks -Fad diets & quick fixes: Extreme plans don’t work long term. I focused on balanced meals, consistency & sustainability. -Treating cardio like the solution: Cardio alone doesn’t reshape your body. Strength training became essential for metabolism. -Training without a plan: Random workouts give random results. I shifted to a more structured approach. -Believing more workouts meant better results: Recovery matters more now. Training hard + recovering well is the goal. -Ignoring daily movement: Exercise is only one part. 7,000–10,000 steps daily support fat loss & metabolic health. -Guessing portion sizes: Eating clean isn’t enough if intake is off. Understanding what your body needs changes everything. -Poor hydration habits: Dehydration affects energy, digestion & performance. I aim for roughly half my body weight in ounces of water daily. -Sacrificing sleep: Sleep is not optional. 7–8 hrs is essential for hormones, recovery & fat loss. -Letting stress run unchecked: Managing stress, creating boundaries & protecting my peace became part of my routine, not an afterthought.
