PAAfter my last post on PACE and GUIDE went viral, the question I got over and over was: “What if we don’t qualify for those yet, but we still need help?”
This is the answer. Most people are out here Googling in the dark at 2 AM, not realizing there is a federally mandated office in every single county designed to do the navigation for you.
It’s called the Area Agency on Aging (AAA).
Think of them as the “Project Managers” for aging. They aren’t just a website; they are a network of specialists who know exactly what resources are available in your specific neighborhood.
What they can help you navigate:
• Respite Care: Finding and funding temporary help so YOU can take a break.
• Legal Aid: Connecting you with experts for Power of Attorney and healthcare directives.
• In-Home Support: From meal deliveries to light housekeeping.
• Caregiver Training: Because none of us were born knowing how to do this.
The catch? You have to be the one to open the door. These programs aren’t always “advertised,” and some have waiting lists. Don’t wait for a crisis to get on their radar.

CAThere’s a peace that comes from knowing your aging parents are safe, comfortable, and truly content.
What that looks like isn’t the same for every family. For us, it’s this: familiar chairs, easy conversation, slippers on, a drink in hand, and a sense of calm that wasn’t always there before.

THAs you all know Mama Frase has dementia 😔 This is attempt #2 to see if she could live and thrive in Senior Living, especially while I had my baby and recovered from my c-section. Despite everyone’s best efforts including the senior living center who has been terrific, it doesn’t seem to be working. Mama Frase has lost 5lbs in 5wks which her doctor is nervous about cause she was already so skinny and her memory issues seem to be getting worse now.
There’s a new Sarah Fraser Show up, I go into more details and next steps. Schman, my bro, and I are figuring out what’s next? Can Mama Frase live with us and have aides come in, plus, Schman and I raise 2 kiddos under the age of 5, keep our marriage solid, and keep my podcast business thriving and growing!? FYI, I’m the breadwinner of our household.
