TREver heard of Aircalin? Me neither up until last month!
Aircalin is small airline based out New Caledonia & services a handful of destinations in Oceana & Asia. They are also part of Flying Blue’s program which means you can earn and redeem flying blue miles for flights.
On my last trip around Oceana I needed to get to Tahiti and I discovered this little know airline as they offer twice a week flights from Noumea to Tahiti which coincidentally perfectly matched my schedule!
Even better the route was serviced by an A330 neo that had a pretty solid looking business class!
I had planned on using flying blue miles for this flight but after comparing cash prices it was a poor value on using miles so I ended up paying cash for economy and upgraded to business class with cash at check in. All in it cost about $850 for business class on the 6 hour haul which isn’t bad at all compared to the 55k miles it would’ve cost.
Overall had a great flight and was easily the best way to get to Tahiti from that side of the world!
