GOThe Prairie Sentinels have made their move to our new home!!! That's right, the secret slipped in my interview on KVOE this morning and it's just as well, because the changes are here!
Good Way Gardens will have a permanent location at 225 E 6th Ave, the former home of Union Street Social. HUGE thanks to Rick and Colleen Mitchell for supporting this move, and Ash and the whole team at Mitchell Markowitz for moving the sentinels with such care, and settling them into our new garden space! And thanks to David Mai and all the Coffee and Clay Club artists and the Emporia Arts Alliance for their flexibility and willingness to let us display them at our new location.
Raised garden beds are on the way, and we're making changes inside to get ready to host live music and community activities, group music classes, cooking classes, gardening classes, land-based art classes, and host rising chefs for pop up restaurants and special community meals. We will be collaborating as a modus operandi, we'll continue to work with our partners House of Morrow and find ways to lift all of our community members up through creativity and care.
I BELIEVE IN THIS COMMUNITY and I believe the work e can do in this building will make us more resilient, more connected, happier and more ready for any challenges to come.

AS13/14 fairway project continues!!
Thanks to the @thefairwaysfdn @thefairwayfoundation_ @thefairwayfoundation and @friendsofashevillemuni for their generous donations the planting has begun!! We took a drive out to @carolinanativenursery @jesseisraelandsons AND @reemscreeknursery THREE absolutely beautiful places, with such wonderful people to work with! We loaded up while some of the crew stayed behind to prep the area. Then together we planted.
As many of you know, hurricane Helene came through rampantly destroying our front 9 and taking down many trees on the back. We’ve been able to clean and recover the back 9 for play, however, still a work in progress. Nonetheless we’re moving forward, that’s what we do! Replanting and looking ahead. I see a bright future for us 😎🫡❤️
Thanks for all the support, we couldn’t do it without you all!

LAThis isn’t your typical gardening club.
The Earth and Liberation fellowship, an 18-week course by the environmental nonprofit Green Arrow Co-Lab, offers a paid opportunity for people impacted by systems such as the criminal justice system or the foster care system to learn self care practices while gaining practical gardening skills
The program, which provides fellows up to $1,000 a month, is based at Eastside Cafe, a community organizing hub in El Sereno.

Prescribed fire is absolutely necessary to maintain native plant communities that evolved with burning. So much is being lost thanks to fire suppression and invasive species that thrive because of it.
Prescribed fire is often quite slow, not as exciting as fires out west. If you’d like to get involved with good fire consider volunteering with The Prairie Enthusiasts, Pheasants Forever, The Nature Conservancy, and other nature based non-profits. We need more people and land owners helping out!
