Nature’s Living Masterpieces: The World’s Most Beautiful Moths From the vibrant to the giant, these moths prove that butterflies aren't the only stars of the insect world. Number 5: Garden Tiger Moth – A striking insect featuring bold brown patterns and hidden, bright orange hindwings. Number 4: Atlas Moth – One of the largest in the world, its massive wings are designed to look exactly like snake heads to scare off predators. Number 3: Luna Moth – Famous for its ethereal pale green color and long, elegant tail streamers. Number 2: Rosy Maple Moth – A tiny, vibrant moth with bright pink and yellow fur that looks just like cotton candy. This last one is truly breathtaking. Number 1: Comet Moth – A spectacular golden moth from Madagascar with incredibly long, flowing tails that trail behind it like a comet in the sky. #beautifulinsects #insects #nature #animalfacts #amazinganimals #planetearth #shorts #reels #fyp #viral

This video showcases the incredible engineering skills of the Montezuma Oropendola, a bird native to Central America. These birds are famous for weaving long, pendulum-like nests that hang from the tips of tree branches to keep them safe from predators like snakes and monkeys. How They Build Them Materials: They use flexible vines, long grasses, and fibers stripped from palm fronds. The Weave: The female is the primary architect. She begins by weaving a strong "handle" or loop over a branch and then works downward, expanding the structure into a hollow, basket-like pouch. Scale: These nests can reach lengths of up to 3 to 6 feet. Colony Living: You’ll often see dozens of these nests in a single tree, which is usually a "host" tree protected by a dominant male who guards the area. 🧵 Bird That “Sews” Its Own Nest?! Solo tenemos que dejarla.🩵 #dolphindream #delfines #tursiopstruncatus #amazinganimals #animallovers

Early one morning while getting my PTGA certifications with @marineguidetraining we witnessed this absolutely incredible humpback feeding behavior. This tactic is called trap feeding, and as of November 2024, only 34 whales in the WORLD know how to do it! As you can probably guess, this behavior is exceptionally rare to witness, and all of us marine wildlife nerds were absolutely losing it… hence the music over the audio 😂 Trap feeding is an absolutely brilliant energy-conserving strategy for a quick bite. Humpbacks typically lunge feed, accelerating to high speeds and engulfing massive amounts of krill or small schooling fish. As you can imagine, it takes a ton of energy, so the amount of krill or fish they get has to be worth the effort! When there’s not enough payoff but a whale still has the munchies, it may decide to trap feed. Like eating popcorn instead of a bowl of rice with a big spoon. Trap feeding depends on two things- sparse schooling fish, and diving seabirds. Yup, birds! When the fish are being hounded from above and below by the birds, they try to find a nice shadow or overhang to hide in. Luckily, a wide open whale mouth provides both! Unluckily, it also provides death. Once there’s a good snack-size amount of fish taking cover, the whale flicks its pectoral fins to pick up any strays then closes its mouth and swallows. If you’re reminded of a Venus fly trap then you’ll be pleased to know that the resemblance is how this behavior got its name! One of the coolest things about trap feeding (besides its brilliance) is that it’s a learned behavior. @mersociety , which first observed and studied this behavior, found that the whales weren’t learning trap feeding from their mothers like they do other behaviors. Instead, they were learning from each other, like teaching a friend a trick at the skatepark. It’s an incredible example of cultural transmission, and absolutely mindblowing to see in person! Cetaceans are constantly shattering our presumptions of their intelligence, and it’s fascinating as well as humbling. Everything we discover about them is a reminder that they are masters of a realm that is almost entirely unknown to us.
