Weaving baskets has become a wonderful way to make something beautiful to view, yet practical to use. I enjoy the process of creating something out of raw materials and can get lost in the weaving, finding it very meditative and calming for my mind and busy hands.
The community of weavers I am blessed to gather with bring joy and connection, and I am grateful to be a part of these traditions being passed along to me.

WYRound baskets with the @edmontonweaversguild this weekend! It was such a lovely time spent in great company, sharing stories, laughter, and the rhythm of weaving together. So grateful for creativity, and community ❤️
Everyone did such a great job and moved through the weaving so quickly that we even had time for a bonus project - wildflowers 🌿🌸

WY🌿✨ What a beautiful weekend at the @albertabasketryguild Weaving Connections Retreat. I thought I’d share a little glimpse into each day.
Saturday was spent weaving Cauldron Baskets - a design that can feel a little tricky at first, but becomes incredibly satisfying as the process unfolds. With each round of weaving, the form slowly begins to reveal itself, and before long your little round cauldron almost seems to appear like magic in your hands.
There were moments of concentration, plenty of laughter, and that shared sense of triumph when the shape finally settled into place. One by one, beautiful little cauldrons emerged from bundles of willow - each unique, each holding the marks of the hands that made it.

Asymmetrical baskets in all stages—finished, almost finished, and perfectly imperfect. Every single one had its own personality, just like the hands that made them.
And the best surprise to come home to… a pair of electric pruners from my husband 🌿 I had just mentioned yesterday how helpful they’d be. Feeling very grateful tonight.

WY🌿✨ What a beautiful weekend at the @albertabasketryguild Weaving Connections Retreat. I thought I’d share a little glimpse into each day.
Sunday I taught Random Weave Animals, and it was such a lovely way to end the weekend. It gave our minds a bit of a break and invited us to lean fully into our creative sides as the animals slowly began to take shape.
With this style of weaving you really have to trust the process, because for a while it truly does look like a bit of a hot mess. But then, piece by piece, everything comes together - legs, bodies, ears and wings - and suddenly an animal appears.
From bunnies to bears, bees and more, we had a wonderfully fun day bringing our whimsical creatures to life and closing the weekend with plenty of laughter and creativity.

RUGosh the world is loud at the moment! Our brains are not wired to process the constant barrage of misery, chaos and destruction that we see in the media every day.
Whatever you do this week, make sure you find time to let your brain switch off and enter that flow state. Your mind and body will thank you for it, and it means you are better able to show up and make changes in your small piece of the world.
