麻の葉模様を刺すまでの工程を動画にまとめてみました。 刺す順番はいろいろあると思いますが、私の場合は「縦 → 横 → 60°の斜め線 → 八の字にひし形」の順番です。 角度に関係なく、長い直線を先にすべて刺すのが一般的なセオリーなのかもしれませんが、私は縦と横の十字を先に刺してから60°の斜め線を刺す方がやりやすいと感じています。 短い横線については、その都度糸の始末をしています。裏地をつける作品なら多少糸始末を疎かにしても見えないと思いますが、これは私なりの小さなこだわりです🤭 でも、こうした小さな習慣が、最終的には自分の技術を形作っていくものですよね。 やはり「神は細部に宿る」のです。 I put together a video showing the process up to stitching the asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern. There are probably many possible stitching orders, but mine is: vertical → horizontal → 60° diagonal lines → diamonds in a figure-eight pattern. Perhaps the general rule is to stitch all the long straight lines first, regardless of angle, but I find it easier to stitch the 60° diagonal lines after completing the vertical and horizontal crosses. For the short horizontal stitches, I finish off the thread each time. If the piece has a lining, you can probably get away with being a bit careless about thread finishing since it won’t show—but it’s one of my little personal preferences. Still, I believe that these small habits eventually become part of your craft. After all, God is in the details. #sashiko#asanoha

And these soft shoes, made from hemp was his dream. They are meant to give his feet some comfort and rest after walking barefooted. It’s a first time in my life, that I did shoes. And I had a bit unconventional way of making them - I did the pattern making directly on his foot. We went this minimal, rustic way on purpose, and it worked, customer happy. 100% hand sewn, decorated with sashiko stitches. Custom order possible.
