Autism third eye hug… A non verbal way that some autistics show love and affection to those closest to them. The boys do this a lot to me and each other but I never realized until I found this video that they’ve been doing it since Tommy was a baby. And that type of love is very rare to find ❤️

🤯 ADHD + autism in one relationship? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. And honestly? At first… it kind of was. So much love. So much frustration. Endless misunderstandings. And a LOT of growth. For years, we kept missing each other. My ADHD brain would sprint ahead, change topics mid-sentence, connect dots no one else could see. He needed logic, order, clear steps. I was chaos with good intentions. My energy overwhelmed him. His structure suffocated me. Every disagreement felt like a battlefield. 💜 What actually changed things? 1. Finally getting our diagnoses: ADHD and autism 2. Something way simpler than therapy jargon: the FACT method. No magic. No fixing each other. Just a better way to communicate. Do we still argue? Of course. But now it’s not a war - it’s a discussion. We hear each other. We clash less. And when we do, it’s gentler. 👉 Want to learn the FACT method and see what it can do for your relationship? 👉Comment „FACT” and I’ll send it to you for free 💌

For 16 years my son didn’t want to be touched. No hugs. No kisses. At times, he’d want to be close to me but I had to be careful NOT to hug back or do too much. Sensory processing made affection almost impossible for him and I learned to love him in the ways HE could receive it. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t grieve the hugs. Then one random day. He walked up. Wrapped his arms around me. And walked away like nothing happened. And I had to just… keep vacuuming. 😭 Because with an autistic child you don’t make a big deal out of EVERY breakthrough. You just receive it. Quietly. Gratefully. So he’ll do it again. But inside?? I was on the floor. 🤍 16 years y’all. SIXTEEN YEARS. Don’t you ever give up on your child. The breakthrough is coming. 📍 Messiah, if you ever read this — Mama has been waiting to HUG YOU BACK your whole life. 🤍 #AutismMom #Messiah #SensoryProcessing #autismacceptance #autism

My kids love Young Sheldon. Especially my neurotypical kids. And honestly? I get it. It’s cute. It’s funny. It’s wholesome (with some adult humor mixed in). I watched a few episodes with them and immediately thought: “Oh. They’re very clearly coding this kid as autistic—with a savant twist.” So I googled it. Went down a Reddit rabbit hole. And saw people saying things like: “They never say it outright, but he’s obviously autistic.” “This is great representation.” And that’s where I paused. Because from what I’ve seen… Young Sheldon never melts down. He’s never truly dysregulated. He’s not mean when overwhelmed. He’s not spiraling from sensory overload. People say he’s “rude” or “blunt,” but what I see isn’t rudeness. It’s honesty. Quirkiness. Social awkwardness. Which—yes—is part of autism Level 1. But where’s the frustration? His parents aren’t exhausted. They’re not constantly problem-solving. They’re not walking on eggshells wondering what will set things off today. His struggles with friendships are real—but they’re neat. Contained. Marketable. Cute. His hair is always perfectly combed. His clothes are clean, matching, and comfortable-looking. Meanwhile, my autistic kid? Could not care less if his shirt is inside out and backwards. In fact, he prefers it that way—because seams and tags feel like sandpaper on fire. Hygiene can be a battle with autistic kids. Not because they’re lazy. But because executive functioning, sensory issues, and hyperfixation are real. Young Sheldon has special interests, sure. But I don’t see the cost of them. I don’t see the daily grind. The invisible labor. The emotional toll. And maybe that’s not the show’s intention—and that’s fine. But what I hate is when people point to Young Sheldon and say: “This is what ASD Level 1 looks like.” Because for a lot of families… It doesn’t. Autism isn’t always (or even ever, really) cute. Or tidy. Or easily digestible. And pretending it is does a disservice to the kids—and parents—living the messy, exhausting, very real version every day. What do you think? ❤️ #autism #autismawareness #asdmom #asdparenting #asdparent

Abbey’s thoughts on the new Barbie! I love that she says ‘Back in the day people didn’t understand autism.’ The word spectrum encompasses so many types of people. But for Abbey as a child, she was very isolated and alone, and when I think of how far she’s come, it inspires me every day. She particularly loves the headphones since she has the same color. PS: the Barbies that you see featured here are Christine’s sisters. (since hers were destroyed) #abbeysautism #barbie
