Your absolute must-do list in Istanbul 🇹🇷👇 Before we dive in, don’t forget to follow @acrosseveryborder for more travel guides! ✈️ 📌 EUROPE SIDE • Start your day in Taksim Square • Walk down Istiklal Street (shops, historic trams & cafés) • Have a proper Turkish breakfast at Limon (it filled us up for the whole day😮‍💨) • Walk to Galata Tower for photos of the old town • Cross Galata Bridge & watch the fishermen • Visit the Blue Mosque • Wander through the Grand Bazaar • Head to Eminönü and take the $1 ferry across the Bosphorus (Europe → Asia!) 📌 ASIA SIDE – KADIKÖY • Explore Akmar Pasajı, a hidden book & music passage we loved!! • Walk through Yeldeğirmeni neighbourhood for the street art • Eat the best stuffed mussels at Kadıköy Midyecisi (yep Sara got hand-fed lol) • Try incredible Anatolian dishes at Çiya Sofrası • Grab one of the best lahmacun at Bolca Lahmacun Rıhtım • Try traditional börek at Çarşı Börek (they were so kind & didn’t even let us pay 😭!!) 💭It really surprises me that a lot of tourists don’t know about this place. But it’s right next to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia 📍This is the resting place of Sultan Ahmed I, the same sultan who built the Blue Mosque. Here you’ll also find the tomb of Kösem Sultan, one of the most powerful women in Ottoman history, who ruled as a regent. Their son Sultan Murad IV is buried here too, along with other family members. 😢honestly, for me this place feels very different. There’s a sense of grandeur, but also deep sadness especially when you see all the small tombs of young princes and princesses. 💡Visiting tips • Entrance is free for everyone • It’s not a mosque, but modest dress is still required (shoulders & knees covered, scarf for women) If you’re visiting Sultanahmet, this spot deserves a place in your itinerary. ______________________________ 👉 And if you want ready-made routes for you trip, you’ll find 20+ neighbourhoods and 350+ spots in my Istanbul digital travel guide.
