Als ik het maar kon analyseren, verklaren of begrijpen, dan zou ik mezelf wel kunnen resetten. Inmiddels weet ik dat wanneer je enkel het hoofd gebruikt en je lichaam niet meedoet, het kan voelen als een strijd. Het brein wil veranderen, maar het lichaam voelt zich verstrikt in oude patronen. Je komt hierdoor letterlijk vast te zitten: een stijve nek, brainfog, vermoeidheid of andere fysieke klachten tot gevolg. Je lichaam voelt als een onveilige plek, omdat het niet meteen kan reageren op de nieuwe, gezonde keuzes die je probeert te maken. Dat de samenwerking tussen hoofd én lichaam de sleutel vormt tot duurzame herprogrammatie, komt omdat je lichaam méér is dan alleen een biologisch systeem. Het is een levend, voelend geheugen. Alles wat je meemaakt, ervaart of onderdrukt, laat sporen achter. Soms letterlijk in je weefsels, organen, spieren of zenuwbanen. Het lichaam onthoudt wat jij soms bent vergeten. One foot feels more stimulation than the other, which forces the brain to notice differences and process sensory input more clearly. Je beweegt meer vanuit overleving dan vanuit je hart... Die aangepaste versie van jezelf voelt misschien veilig, maar ze kost je iets essentieels: de vrije stroom van je levensenergie. Dat is wat een aangepast brein doet: het kiest voor veiligheid boven vrijheid, voor controle boven verbinding. Omdat jouw systeem ooit heeft geleerd dat dit de enige manier was om te kunnen blijven bestaan. Maar wat we vaak vergeten, is dat elk schild dat ons beschermt, ons tegelijkertijd ook afsluit. Het houdt niet alleen pijn op afstand, maar ook de volledige stroom van je levensenergie. En precies daar ontstaat het gevoel van leegte, van vermoeidheid, van ‘ik leef wel, maar ik lééf niet helemaal’. Wanneer je die laag begint te herkennen (niet als fout, maar als overlevingsstrategie) ontstaat er iets bijzonders, namelijk bewustzijn. En bewustzijn opent een deur. Want op het moment dat je ziet hoe je jezelf klein hebt gehouden, kun je ook kiezen om weer ruimte te maken. Ruimte om te ademen. Ruimte om te voelen. Ruimte om terug te keren naar jezelf. En belangrijk daarbij is dat levensenergie niet terugkeert door harder je best te doen, maar juist wanneer jij stopt met jezelf blokkeren. Wanneer je het schild verzacht, het masker laat zakken, laag voor laag, en je systeem laat ervaren dat de wereld niet langer hetzelfde gevaar vormt als toen je klein was. Ervaar maar eens wat er gebeurt in dat zachte loslaten... wanneer het weer begint te stromen...
