Simple logo = good logo? 🤔 Not always 😬 One of the reasons logo design is such a difficult job is because you’re trying to balance functionality with story and personality. These goals fight each other like running and weight training 🏃🏻‍♂️/🏋🏻‍♂️ The sweet spot is squeezing as much meaning, personality and story into the design as possible, then gradually stripping it back until it’s as reductive as it can be without losing its essence. Get the balance wrong and you end up with one of two problems: Too simple = not memorable 🥱 Too much personality = not functional 😵‍💫 #branddesign #logodesign #branding #graphicdesign #brandidentity

This was a good logo - but we didn’t use it 🦉 We all love clever logos. A unique story woven in, finding little easter eggs. But just making a logo for the sake of cleverness does the brand a disservice. One of the most important things in logo design is making sure it feels appropriate for the brand, their industry, the audience and their product. We loved this owl mark as a symbol of impressive pivot joint movement. The client’s name Pivot Point was rooted in this idea of pivot joints being the foundation of body control. Pair that with a hidden P - dang…seems like a slam dunk right? The meaning was there, but once we tested it in use with the rest of the brand elements and added context…it wasn’t really reading PT or natural/holistic. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but ultimately a clever/well-executed logo won’t always be an auto win. It’s got to fit the brand in the big picture 🤝 #branddesign #logosdesign #branding #graphicdesign #brandidentity

The problem isn’t “bad clients”, it’s unclear direction. If you’ve ever had a client say “this isn’t what I pictured” after you’ve done hours of design work it probably started at the moodboard stage. Figuring out how to communicate our creative ideas so our clients can see what’s in our mind before we begin the design will save hours of time and creative energy If my moodboard is just aesthetic but not communicating anything, it ends up leaving too much up to interpretation which leads to the client being unable to see my vision Moodboards are about explaining how you plan to translate the brand’s personality into something visual so your client can say “YES, I see it let’s do it.” It takes a little extra time and research, but it means we can then go into the design phase and the client knows what to expect. Getting this stage right has been the key to getting my projects signed off first time with no amends, or just a few tweaks to make it perfect. Moodboards are the first visual interpretation of the brand’s brain. Make it good! #branddesign #branding #branddesigner #graphicdesigner #moodboards

That thinking shaped everything. ✅ Soft and considered colour ✅ Intentional layouts ✅ Human, expressive moments ✅ Warm, modern gradients ✅ Clarity-first / User experience-led A visual identity built around clarity, not complexity. A product-like experience that feels intuitive, not overwhelming and a system designed to support people, not just present information. At first glance, the symbol is a bold ‘E’ tying back to Éire.
