03Most people think brand managers just run ads or manage Instagram pages. That’s not the job.
In reality, brand managers sit at the intersection of product, consumer psychology, sales, and marketing.
Sometimes you start from zero, identifying a gap in the market, working with R&D to develop the product, deciding pricing, packaging, positioning and building the entire launch plan.
Other times the product is already built and your job is to create demand, build the campaign, pick the channels, craft the message and make the product impossible to ignore.
But the real job happens in between. You’re coordinating with R&D, supply chain, finance, sales, agencies, creators and leadership — often in the same week.
Brand manager sounds like one role. In reality it’s product thinking + storytelling + business strategy combined. You’re not just managing a brand.
You’re running a small business inside a big one.
