A throwback to this hilarious yet poignant scene from the culinary situation comedy, "Chef Whites" where the scatterbrained but loveable waitress, Kiki (played by Isy Suttie), asks the chefs for an eggless omelet, and gets two very different responses. The scene is funny, of course, and shows how different chefs and people handle a situation like a strange question under pressure, but it's also a perfect example of how one can handle a teachable moment with a combination of logical intelligence and emotional intelligence. Fun fact: Isy Suttie had learned to play the trumpet for her role as Kiki. Written by Oliver Lansley and Matt King, directed by David Kerr, and starring Alan Davies as Roland White the executive chef at a country house hotel, and Darren Boyd as Bib, Roland's long-suffering sous-chef. BBC Two gave the go ahead for the show to go into production in August 2009. with the first episode airing in September 2010. The show aired for six episodes in 2010. On 1 March 2011 Davies announced that the BBC would not be renewing the series for another series. A fan campaign to bring back the series has been fruitless, with Davies stating to the Telegraph that he had received an email from someone he didn't know that the show was being cancelled. The series had 2.37 million viewers for its debut episode on 28 September 2010. The finale, which aired on 2 November 2010, attracted 1.58 million viewers. Since the ratings were above average, The British Comedy Guide speculated that "the show is a casualty of the BBC Comedy department having to make spending cuts," and from what I have read, and how the cancellation was handled, likely some personal agendas from corporate cranks.
