What matters most is what you do with the ones you have.
Not hitting the level of connection or excitement you expected doesn’t make an event “bad.” Sometimes the value shows up quietly, in one person, one insight, one conversation. And that’s okayyy
Yesterday, I attended an event by @thecjid my first time hearing about them, but the conversations were powerful and relevant. From women’s rights to information distribution, it touched on many of the issues we’ve all been navigating.
One topic that stood out to me was the Reserved Seat Bill. I first heard about it at the @policycentreng event, and honestly, finally, something that speaks directly to women’s inclusion in decision-making spaces.
But here’s the thought that stayed with me:
What happens if the bill passes but doesn’t give women an equal voice?
A seat at the table matters, but the ability to speak and influence matters even more.
And beyond that, I hope we truly choose the right women to represent us, women who are not “pick me’s” or self-focused, but committed to the mission and the change we’re fighting for.
It all falls on us and how involved we get with the process.
