CMSD has announced a $36 million budget shortfall heading into the 2026-2027 school year. These budget woes come amidst a successful city-wide levy last year, but also aggressive attacks on Public Education by the Republican dominated State house. As the district navigates lower enrollment and privatization attempts by the State, school closures have been announced across the district. Volunteers at the Cleveland Liberation Center spoke to teachers and educators across the district with the Cleveland Teachers Union as the school district faces down these impending school closures. Educators spoke about what the schools mean to them, their students, and communities. Public education is a vital and precious resource that is under attack across the country. Only through a broad coalition of workers, teachers, and families can we demand that our schools not just stay open, but they be improved, their resources bolstered, and their staff better supported. 🚨CALL TO ACTION🚨 CONCERNED ABOUT THE SCHOOL SHUT DOWNS AND WANT TO SPEAK OUT?
